Catholic Schools Endowment Fund

Currently, the cost of Catholic school tuition in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City is almost $16 million annually. These figures are based on enrollments in 20 Catholic grade schools and 2 Catholic high schools.

For 2009 Grade School Enrollment of 3306 Catholic students, annual tuition runs = $9,923,847 For 2009 High School Enrollment of 825 Catholic students, annual tuition runs = $5,723,160 Total Annual Tuition = $15,647,007

And while the Annual ADF Plus subsidy of $500,000 provides some relief to the overall cost of Catholic education, capping and reducing tuitions ultimately will need to rely on income from the Catholic Schools Endowment.

The Catholic Schools Endowment, with a fund balance of just over $2 Million (as of 12/31/2009), was established through the vision of Archbishop Eusebius J. Beltran to someday totally eliminate the cost of Catholic school tuition in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. Upon the recent receipt of a $1 Million pledge to the fund, Archbishop Beltran said, "This endowment is critically essential for our Catholic faith because Catholic school education is one of the most successful ministries of the Church. The principal objective of Catholic school education is to lead students and their families to know, love and serve God. In this way, a closer relationship is nurtured between us and the Lord Jesus. May Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts, bless this generous benefactor and all others who follow this example."

A rapid infusion of new funds is critical, if the Catholic School Endowment is to have a meaningful impact on tuition costs in the near-term. To cap the cost of Catholic school tuitions, the Catholic Schools Endowment will require a fund balance in excess of $18,000,000, earning 7.5% to 8% annual to offset these necessary cost of living increases.
