The Ten Commandments Monuments
The Ten Commandments were revealed by God to Moses for all of God's people. They are a summary of the law and they tell us how to respond in love to God and to our neighbor. All human beings are obliged to observe the Ten Commandments. Jesus refers to the Ten Commandments and assures their validity in the dialogue with the rich young man in Saint Matthew's Gospel. (Mt 19:16-21)
Through the guidance of Archbishop Eusebius Beltran, the Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma believes that a monument depicting the Ten Commandments be placed at each Catholic Grade School and High School in the Archdiocese as a guide to all Catholic students in their faith formation.
The Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma, Inc. has committed to raising, through individual donations, grants and matching funds, an amount necessary to produce and erect a monument of the Ten Commandments at all the Catholic grade schools and high schools in the Archdiocese.
The first monument has been placed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Youth Camp and a picture of that monument is below.
Funds to produce and erect The Ten Commandments monuments have been allocated for Mount St. Mary Catholic High School, Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Grade School. Those monuments will be placed in 2010.
